Varian Medical Systems of Palo Alto, CA, has landed a $29 million deal to supply radiation therapy equipment to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Trust, a hospital in Norwich, U.K. The hospital is upgrading its cancer treatment program, which treats over 2,000 cancer patients a year.
Varian will equip the hospital with four linear accelerators, a treatment simulator, and a high-dose-rate brachytherapy afterloader. The installation also includes software for image processing, treatment planning, and clinical information systems. A GE Medical Systems CT scanner for treatment planning is also included.
The agreement includes all future upgrades, parts, and service requirements for the next 15 years, according to hospital officials.
