Varian Medical Systems has rolled out version 7.0 of its VariSeed treatment planning software. The new release allows radiation oncologists to utilize real-time images generated during the brachytherapy implant procedure to deliver precise doses, according to the Palo Alto, CA-based vendor.
Varian said that VariSeed 7.0 also adds the ability to superimpose different kinds of diagnostic images, enabling physicians to adjust implants according to patient disease characteristics. VariSeed 7.0 is available now to new customers and as a software upgrade to current VariSeed users, according to Varian.
