Radiation therapy company Varian Medical Systems has signed another deal for treatment-planning quality-assurance tools. The Palo Alto, CA, company inked a nonexclusive agreement with Oncology Data Systems of Oklahoma City in which ODS’s software will be used to validate treatment plans made with Varian’s software.
The agreement will help Varian customers comply with a U.S. law regarding radiation dose-delivery plans developed with treatment-planning software. Such plans must be validated by an independent method, according to the law. Varian announced a similar deal last week with Lifeline Software of Tyler, TX.
Oncology Data Systems has two QA products: MuCheck for 2-D and 3-D treatment plans, and IMRT Check for intensity modulated radiation therapy plans. Both are compatible with Varian’s Eclipse and Helios treatment-planning software products.
