Canadian isotope supplier MDS Nordion has received regulatory go-aheads from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Health Canada agency for its Monte Carlo electron-radiotherapy treatment-calculation technique. According to the Kanata, Ontario vendor, the software will provide greater accuracy in calculating the dose required for cancer patients receiving radiation therapy. The company will be using the dose-calculation algorithms in its Oncentra treatment-planning software.
