NAS cuts losses in Q1

Radiation therapy firm North American Scientific (NAS) reported revenues of $7.5 million for its fiscal 2006 first quarter (end-January 31), a decline of 8% compared with revenues of $8.2 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2005.

The company's net loss for the first quarter of fiscal 2006 was $2.7 million, a reduction of $1 million or 26%, from the net loss for the first quarter of fiscal 2005 of $3.7 million, according to the Chatsworth, CA-based firm.

The $1 million reduction in the net loss for the period was due to a $1.3 million reduction in operating expenses resulting from cost reductions, partially offset by $300,000 in stock compensation expense, NAS said.
