Oncology and medical device developer RITA Medical Systems of Fremont, CA, has begun sales of its LC Bead embolization product in the U.S.
The new product is a minimally invasive embolization treatment for hypervascular tumors that blocks the blood flow feeding a tumor, causing it to shrink in size over time. The technique is commonly used to treat hepatocellular carcinoma and neuroendocrine tumors, the company said.
RITA has an exclusive three-year supply and distribution agreement with the manufacturer of LC Bead, U.K.-based Biocompatibles International, to market the product in the U.S. and Canada.
