Elekta inks US Oncology deal

Swedish radiation therapy firm Elekta said it has signed an agreement with radiation therapy center operator US Oncology of Houston outlining pricing as well as terms and conditions for Elekta's technology for intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT).

Under the terms of the three-year deal, members of US Oncology can acquire digital linear accelerators from Elekta, capable of IMRT and 3D x-ray volume imaging for IGRT, according to the Stockholm-based firm.

The agreement parallels a current deal between US Oncology and radiation oncology information systems developer Impac Medical Systems, an Elekta company, covering software systems.
