Radiation oncology developer Varian Medical Systems said that its Clinac medical linear accelerator equipped with an On-Board Imager device is in use at UZ Gasthuisberg in Belgium.
The image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) system takes radiographic, fluoroscopic, and 3D conebeam CT images to provide clinicians with views of the tumor site and surrounding bones, organs, and soft tissue, according to Palo Alto, CA-based Varian. The facility treats up to 200 patients per day on four Varian Clinac linear accelerators, with a fifth machine due to be installed in the near future, the company said.
