Elekta to buy 3D Line Medical Systems

Stockholm-based radiation oncology firm Elekta has agreed to acquire Italian stereotactic radiosurgery and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) firm 3D Line Medical Systems.

Elekta will pay $13.3 million (U.S.) for the company's assets, and could pay as much as $10 million more based on performance goals over the next three years.

3D Line's product portfolio includes equipment and treatment-planning software systems for radiation therapy. The company reported net sales of approximately $7.8 million in 2006.

The transaction is pending customary closing conditions and regulatory approval.
