Radiation therapy device developer Varian Medical Systems has completed installation of its Clinac linear accelerator with the firm's proprietary On-Board Imager tools at the Shandong Cancer Hospital in East China.
The new device enables clinicians at the facility to use image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) techniques that improve precision and potentially increase cure rates, according to Palo Alto, CA-based Varian.
The company said it has sold nine On-Board Imager IGRT systems in mainland China to date and the Shandong device is the first to enter clinical use.
