Swedish radiation oncology firm Elekta has closed on its acquisition of 3D Line Medical Systems of Milan, Italy.
Elekta will pay 10 million euros ($13.5 million U.S.) in cash for assets related to radiation therapy technology and equipment, and up to 8 million euros (approximately $10.8 million U.S.), based on future performance over the next three years.
By acquiring 3D Line, Elekta adds an R&D group that specializes in stereotactic radiosurgery and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) treatments, as well as a product portfolio of advanced equipment and treatment-planning software systems for radiation therapy.
