Intraop names new pres/CEO, restructures debt

Intraoperative radiation therapy firm Intraop Medical has named a new president and CEO, and has also restructured its debt.

Incoming president and CEO John Powers joins the Sunnyvale, CA, firm after serving in executive posts for the past 20 years at companies that include Dallas-based metroPCS, VelociTel of Atlanta, Houston-based Crown Castle International, and Motorola of Schaumbrug, IL. Powers replaces Donald A. Goer, who takes the position of chief scientist at Intraop.

The company also has received $5.4 million of new equity, and has arranged for the liquidation of more than $8.7 million of notes and payables.
