Varian Medical Systems of Palo Alto, CA, has introduced two new products.
The company released an updated version of its VariSeed brachytherapy seed planning software. VariSeed 8.0 incorporates several new features that allow greater visibility of the treatment.
VariSeed 8.0 offers enhanced contouring tools, including the ability to contour in the sagittal and coronal planes. There also is a tool that creates a digital reconstruction of the CT image to define seed placement.
Varian also launched an advanced range of afterloaders for HDR (high-dose-rate) brachytherapy for the treatment of cancer patients. The iX afterloaders feature a new Windows-based control software, common to both the VariSource iX and GammaMedplus iX afterloaders.
The new software is designed to integrate with Varian's BrachyVision treatment planning system.
