Swedish oncology firm Elekta has received approval from China's State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) for its Elekta Compact linear accelerator.
Compact, a linear accelerator for conventional radiotherapy applications, is designed for countries in need of rapid buildup of additional treatment capacity, according to the Stockholm-based vendor. It's based on a combination of Elekta technology and the product platform developed by Chinese firm BMEI, which Elekta acquired in 2006.
