Varian to post solid Q1

Radiation therapy developer Varian Medical Systems said it expects to report net order growth of 12% to 13% in its fiscal 2009 first quarter, thanks to gains in all of its major businesses.

Net order growth will range from 10% to 11% in its oncology systems business, including a 15% to 16% increase in the international market and a 6% to 7% gain in North America, according to the Palo Alto, CA-based vendor. Varian also estimates its x-ray products unit will have net order growth of approximately 21%.

Full quarterly results will be announced on January 29.
