Still River successfully tests proton therapy magnet

Proton radiotherapy vendor Still River Systems has successfully tested a high-field, high-energy cyclotron magnet.

The superconducting magnet is the foundation for the Littleton, MA, company's particle accelerator-based Monarch250 proton therapy system. The magnet is designed to reduce the size and cost of Monarch250, which is scheduled for installation at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, later this year.

Both hospitals have begun construction on new facilities to house the first Monarch250 systems in the U.S.
