Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems of Palo Alto, CA, reported a 6% increase in revenues for the second quarter (end-April 3), although net earnings dipped slightly.
Revenue for the second quarter was $553.6 million, compared to $518.4 million in the second quarter of 2008. Net earnings were $67.8 million, down slightly compared to $71.3 million in the same quarter a year ago.
For the six-month period, revenue totaled $1.062 billion, up 10% compared to $969.6 million in the same period of fiscal 2008. Year-to-date net earnings were $136.6 million, compared to $126.8 million in the same period a year ago.
