Radiation therapy firm Accuray of Sunnyvale, CA, reported lower revenue in its third quarter of fiscal 2010 (end-March 31).
Revenue decreased to $51.9 million, down 15% compared to $61.3 million in the third quarter of fiscal 2009. Net income advanced to $2.3 million, compared with net income of $1.2 million in the same quarter last year.
In the third quarter, six CyberKnife robotic radiosurgery systems were installed, bringing the worldwide CyberKnife installation base to 196 units.
In addition, Accuray added 14 orders for CyberKnife systems with a value of $64.3 million to its backlog, which, combined with service renewal orders and other ancillary accessory orders, yielded a total addition to the backlog of $76.6 million.
For the nine-month period, revenue was down 9% to $159.8 million, compared with $174.8 million in the same period of fiscal 2009. The net loss for the first nine months of fiscal 2010 was $2.2 million, compared with a net loss of $613,000 in same period last year.
For the first nine months of fiscal 2010, Accuray added 41 CyberKnife systems to its backlog and shipped 26 units.
