ViewRay nets $20M in financing

Image-guided therapy developer ViewRay of Oakwood Village, OH, has secured $20 million in financing from a new investor, Siemens Venture Capital, and existing investors Aisling Capital, Fidelity Biosciences, Kearny Venture Partners, and OrbiMed Advisors.

The funding will support the commercialization and installation of the ViewRay image-guided radiation therapy system, which is now in the late stages of development.

The ViewRay system is designed to improve the accuracy of cancer treatments through a combination of simultaneous MRI and radiation therapy delivery. The technology currently is designated for nonclinical research use only.

The Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis are expected to validate the ViewRay system.
