Accuray unveils upgrades at ASTRO

Radiation therapy firm Accuray is planning to introduce several enhancements to its CyberKnife and TomoTherapy products at this week's American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) annual meeting.

CyberKnife enhancements include a second-generation suite of lung simulation and treatment products that provide an optimum fiducial-free treatment option for lung cancer patients undergoing stereotactic body radiotherapy, regardless of tumor location.

The company is also introducing a new tracking product, CyberKnife Xsight Spine Prone. In combination with the Synchrony respiratory tracking system, the product enables clinicians to deliver noninvasive spine radiosurgery to patients in the prone position to maximize sparing of the spinal cord and other surrounding tissues.

New enhancements for TomoTherapy products include two new system software versions, TomoTherapy Hi-Art V4.1 and Tomo HD V1.1. The company is also introducing the TomoTherapy OIS Connect and the CyberKnife Radiosurgery DICOM interface. These integrate Accuray treatment systems with an oncology department's Aria and Mosaiq oncology information systems, and are designed to streamline workflow and improve operational efficiency.

TomoTherapy Remote Software Solutions are also being introduced, providing the ability to develop more treatment plans from remote locations.

In addition, the company is making its Diamond Plus service program available to TomoTherapy customers for the first time.
