Radiopharmaceutical developer Ion Beam Applications (IBA) will install its first U.S. Proteus One single-room compact proton therapy system at a facility being developed by Willis-Knighton Cancer Center in Shreveport, LA.
Designed to provide a smaller and less costly option for cancer centers, Proteus One is approximately 15 x 29 m, including the shielding walls, according to IBA. The system ranges in cost from $25 to $30 million, along with an additional long-term maintenance agreement, the company said.
