RTOG names TRP subcommittee liaisons

The Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) has named James Hodge, PhD, as the liaison for the Translational Research Program (TRP) Committee's new immunomodulation subcommittee and Peter Houghton, PhD, as liaison for TRP's sarcoma subcommittee.

The TRP informs basic science committees and working groups about important emerging research in tumor biology, chemical and biological modifiers, and pathology, according to RTOG. Its objective is to facilitate the communication of scientific ideas into RTOG clinical trials.

Hodge is director of the Recombinant Vaccine Group in the National Cancer Institute's Laboratory of Tumor Immunology and Biology. His work has focused on the design and development of novel recombinant vaccines and vaccine strategies for cancer immunotherapy, according to RTOG.

Houghton, director of the Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Diseases at Nationwide Children's Hospital, specializes in research on childhood solid tumors, RTOG said. He also directs the national Pediatric Preclinical Testing Program.
