Contributions from all of its business segments powered radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems to a 9% gain in revenues in the company's fiscal third quarter (end-June 29).
Third-quarter revenues totaled $705.3 million, compared with $649.4 million in the third quarter of the 2011 fiscal year. Net earnings increased 11% to $108.8 million, compared with $98.6 million in last year's third quarter.
Varian's Oncology Systems segment contributed $546 million to third-quarter revenues, up 7% from the same quarter of fiscal 2011.
For the nine-month period, revenues decreased to $2.05 billion, compared with $2.28 billion in the same period of fiscal 2011. Net earnings advanced to $306.8 million in the nine-month period, compared with $298.2 million in the same period a year ago.
