Brainlab debuts updated ExacTrac system

Image-guided therapy firm Brainlab has unveiled its new ExacTrac 6.0 patient positioning system for both frameless radiosurgery and radiotherapy treatments.

The system includes a new dual generator for simultaneous imaging, remote control of the robotics module, and conebeam CT integration, according to the company.

ExacTrac features high-resolution stereoscopic x-ray images to detect and visualize internal structures before and during treatment, according to the firm. An image fusion algorithm is designed to eliminate artifacts caused by objects not correlated to the target structure, so clinicians can correct patient positions.

The ExacTrac 6.0 patient positioning system has been installed at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center; University of California, San Francisco Medical Center; and MD Anderson Cancer Center.
