Bionix launches radiation therapy tattoo system

Radiation therapy accessories provider Bionix Radiation Therapy has launched a new tattooing device designed to permanently mark radiation therapy patients.

Called Accu-Tatt, the system consists of a sterilized pouch that contains an ink ampoule and a 0.75-inch, 22-gauge needle. The sterilized pouch reduces concerns about contamination within radiation therapy facilities, while Accu-Tatt's short needle length enables increased control when tattooing patients, according to the company.

Permanent tattoos are used during radiation therapy to mark the edge of the treatment field, ensuring the reproducibility of treatments to the patient during the therapy cycle.
