Image-guided therapy developer ViewRay's MRI-guided radiation therapy system is now being used at a Missouri hospital.
The Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis has begun using the device, which is the first and only system of its kind, according to ViewRay. The unit combines radiation therapy delivery and continuous MR imaging, allowing clinicians to view the patient's internal anatomy in real-time and keep radiation beams on target during treatment.
One of the initial treatments being delivered is stereotactic body radiation therapy for lung cancer, ViewRay said.
