Radiation oncology firm Elekta is teaming up with cloud-based business intelligence firm Birst.
The partnership will enable Elekta to provide customers with big-data analytics of clinical, financial, administrative, and operational data from products marketed by Elekta and other companies. The Leksell Gamma Knife Registry, which was presented at the International Leksell Gamma Knife Society Meeting in May, is an initial result from this partnership.
The registry provides improved quality reporting and measurement for patients treated with Leksell Gamma Knife and opens the door for establishing global benchmarks for stereotactic radiosurgery, Elekta said. Including a standard data management application, the registry also collects data in a HIPAA-compliant cloud-based data warehouse in order to provide insight into the effectiveness of specific treatments, cost variations, and improving disease outcomes, according to the vendor.
The registry will also provide a platform for advancing collaboration in clinical research, Elekta said.
