The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) is commemorating the 10th anniversary of its ASTRO Fellows designation by naming 10 new fellows.
The following individuals received the designation:
- Dr. H. Joseph Barthold of Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth
- Dr. Jennifer Bellon of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
- Dr. Laura Dawson of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre
- Dr. Theodore DeWeese of Johns Hopkins University
- Dr. Shalom Kalnicki of Montefiore Medical Center
- Dr. Nancy Mendenhall of the University of Florida
- Dr. William Mendenhall of the University of Florida
- Todd Pawlicki, PhD, of the University of California, San Diego
- Timothy Solberg, PhD, of the University of California, San Francisco
- Dr. John Suh of the Cleveland Clinic
The ASTRO Fellows designation is meant to honor individuals who have added significantly to the field of radiation oncology in the areas of research, education, patient care or service, and leadership, according to the society. The new fellows will be recognized at an awards ceremony at ASTRO's annual meeting in September in Boston. Including the 10 new fellows, ASTRO has awarded 269 members with the ASTRO Fellow designation since its inception in 2006.
