Proton therapy developer Ion Beam Applications (IBA) and radiation oncology vendor Elekta have entered into a memorandum of understanding to work together in software development as well as the sales and marketing of each other's products.
The companies intend to coinvest in the development of new functionality for proton therapy treatment in Elekta's Monaco treatment planning system and Mosaiq oncology information system, they said during the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) meeting.
In addition to collaborating in software development, both companies plan to offer joint radiation therapy systems and comarket each other's offerings, the firms said.
