The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) has chosen the winners of its distinguished author awards, which recognize the best articles published in its journals Radiologic Technology and Radiation Therapist.
The recipients of the Radiologic Technology Widger award are Xiaoming Zheng, PhD, from Charles Stuart University in Wagga Wagga, Australia, and Dr. Li-Han Lin and colleagues from Chang Gung University College of Medicine in Taiwan.
Their research demonstrated the effectiveness of a personalized dose prescription method for reducing radiation exposure to patients during radiography. The article, "Personal Exposure Prescription Method Reduces Dose in Radiography," was published in the journal's May/June 2018 issue.
For the Radiation Therapist Silverman award, the ASRT tapped Cheryl Turner, EdD, and colleagues from various U.S. institutions for their article "How Do They Do It? Stress and Coping Among Radiation Therapists," which was published in the journal's Fall 2018 issue. The article addressed concerns over the growing rate of burnout among radiation therapists and the urgent need to implement coping strategies for this population.
The society will present the awards on June 21 at the ASRT Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting in Orlando, FL.
