California Protons Cancer Therapy Center announced that it is now affiliated with the University of California, San Diego Health Cancer Network.
The agreement gives patients access to proton therapy treatment at Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health, the city's only U.S. National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, the company said.
UC San Diego's center has been open since 2014, and California Protons has been operating it for two years, according to the firm. The two entities plan to collaborate on research for new proton therapy protocols for breast cancer, prostate cancer, and head and neck cancers, the company said.
