Radiation oncology firm Accuray said that its joint venture with CNNC High Energy Equipment of Tianjin, China, has received the required licenses and permits to begin selling and installing Accuray's radiation therapy devices in China.
In recent months, the joint venture -- CNNC Accuray -- has been awarded a radiation safety license, business license, and medical device operating permit, according to Accuray. Furthermore, CNNC Accuray has broken ground on its manufacturing facility and education center in Tianjin.
The facility will house the company's headquarters, sales organization, and service operations. Accuray said it also expects to begin manufacturing CNNC Accuray-branded radiation therapy devices for the Chinese market at the new facility within approximately two years.
Accuray also announced that the joint venture has so far received orders for two radiation therapy devices from private hospitals.
