X-ray and radiation therapy technology developer Xstrahl has signed a deal with C&C Irradiator Service of Washington, DC, to supply x-ray irradiator systems that will replace cesium sources across the U.S.
Cesium-137 is used in older radiotherapy systems and irradiators but can be dangerous and difficult to dispose of safely, the company said. Under terms of the deal, Xstrahl will provide C&C with services that include decommissioning existing gamma irradiators and transitioning to x-ray irradiators, according to the firm.
