Isotopia to build new plant in Indiana

Israel-based Isotopia Molecular Imaging plans to build a $20 million facility in Westfield, IN, to produce lutetium-177 (Lu-177).

Lu-177 is a medical isotope used in nuclear medicine theranostics techniques for imaging and treating cancer. The project is expected to create up to 50 jobs by 2028, noted the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, in a news release.

The company’s U.S. subsidiary, Isotopia USA, will lead the project, with production expected by the end of 2024. The facility will include production clean rooms, analytical and microbiology laboratories, packaging and logistics systems, and precursor isotope recycling systems.
