ALI revenues climb, but firm still posts loss

PACS firm ALI Technologies booked record revenues during its fiscal first quarter. The Vancouver, BC-based firm turned in revenues of $5.2 million (U.S.) during the period (end-December 31), a 25% gain over the $4.2 million posted in the same quarter last year. The revenue surge wasn't enough to bring ALI into the black, however. The company had a net loss of $172,000, compared with a profit of $659,000 a year ago.

Revenue growth was helped by ALI's European operations, which achieved significant increases in both sales and profitability, according to the vendor. ALI also highlighted increased sales of its ultrasound miniPACS offering, new software revenues from cardiology applications, and the firm's partnership with Camtronics Medical Systems of Hartland, WI.

During the first quarter, ALI added 10 new customers, connected 68 new imaging devices in its installed base and upgraded or expanded 14 customer systems. As of the end of 1999, ALI had an installed base of 509 customers, which were networking an aggregate of 1,453 medical imaging devices, according to the firm.
