Siemens Ultrasound of Issaquah, WA, is reporting the official launch of a new scanner first introduced at this month's RSNA meeting in Chicago. The new system, Sonoline Omnia, is designed to occupy a price point below the firm's flagship Elegra system.
The company is touting Omnia as a highly mobile, multispecialty scanner that carries many of the advanced imaging applications first pioneered on Elegra, but at a lower cost. Omnia supports SieScape, Siemens' panoramic imaging mode, as well as the company's Ensemble tissue harmonic imaging technique.
Omnia will begin shipping in the first quarter of 2000, according to Siemens executives.
