Sonosite gets 510(k) for cardiac scanner

SonoSite of Bothell, WA, has received clearance from the Food and Drug Administration for an echocardiography version of its handheld ultrasound technology. The company reports that the FDA has cleared SonoHeart, an echocardiography unit that weighs only 5.4 pounds. SonoSite introduced SonoHeart at the American Heart Association meeting in November.
