Misonix has received Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for its SonoReal 3-D ultrasound probe, formerly known as Baby Face. Co-developed by Israeli engineering firm BioMediCom and Misonix subsidiary Sonora Medical Systems, SonoReal works with virtually any diagnostic ultrasound unit to produce 3-D images, according to Misonix of Farmingdale, NY.
SonoReal utilizes 3-D software, a small high-speed computer, and a precision probe-tracking device to produce 3-D ultrasound images. Misonix estimates the market for SonoReal at between $40 million and $60 million per year.
