FDA clears another GE US scanner in Logiq series

GE Medical Systems received FDA 510(k) clearance last month for the fifth ultrasound scanner in its new Logiq series, Logiq 3.

Logiq 5 and Logiq Book were approved in January, while Logiq 7 and Logiq 9 -- the top two scanners in the new GE line -- are already on the market. Logiq 7 and Logiq 9 replace Logiq 700, which had been the vendor’s top scanner. Although GE plans to continue selling Logiq 700, this machine is now upgradable to either Logiq 7 or Logiq 9, GE said.

Although GE will not comment on either Logiq 5 or Logiq 3, the former can be equipped with a wider range of transducers than the latter, and will be marketed to a lower market segment than Logiq 7.

Logiq 3 is smaller than Logiq 5, 49 x 85 cm, compared to 52 x 99 cm. Logiq 5 is equipped with a touch-screen as well as a standard CRT display.
