Handheld-ultrasound developer SonoSite reported first-quarter revenues of $12.8 million, up 57% compared from the $8.2 million booked in the first quarter of 2001. For the period (end-March 31), the Bothell, WA-based vendor had a net loss of $3.7 million, compared with a net loss of $6.7 million last year.
Among quarterly highlights, the firm said it was pleased with initial market response to its SonoHeart Elite system. SonoSite said it has received several order commitments for SonoHeart Elite, which began shipping in March.
