North American Scientific said that its Nomos Radiation Oncology division has launched a new image-guided tracking device for its tumor imaging systems.
The optical camera targeting system is incorporated into the vendor's BAT (B-mode acquisition and targeting) image-guided radiation therapy technology. It offers expanded clinical capability to image targets for therapeutic radiation treatment in the prostate, breast, liver, pancreas, bladder, and cervix, as well as head and neck cases, according to the Chatsworth, CA-based firm.
The optical camera works in tandem with a newly developed ultrasound probe tracker, which allows users to navigate on multiple planes and at multiple angles, NAS said. The omnidirectional probe allows clinicians to image soft-tissue structures and their interface with other internal structures, according to the firm.
