SonoSite posts record year

Handheld-ultrasound provider SonoSite reported fourth-quarter revenue of $45.2 million, up 22% compared with the $37.1 million booked in the same period last year. For the quarter (end-December 31), the Bothell, WA-based firm had net income of $5.3 million, compared with adjusted net income of $2.2 million a year ago.

For the year, SonoSite had revenue of $147.5 million, up 27% compared with the $115.8 million turned in during 2004. The vendor had 2005 net income of $5.4 million, compared with adjusted net income of $2.2 million a year earlier.

Sales of its MicroMaxx system grew to 40% of worldwide revenues in the fourth quarter, said president and CEO Kevin Goodwin.

Looking ahead, SonoSite expects a revenue growth rate of approximately 25% in 2006, with revenues ranging between $180 million and $187 million.
