GE Healthcare and Olympic committees from the U.S., Italy, and China are collaborating on a new clinical study examining athletes’ hearts.
Using GE’s Vivid i and Logiq Book systems, researchers at the Olympic Games in Torino are investigating the cardiovascular effects of rest and activity on both short-and-long distance athletes, with the goal of gaining new insight into techniques for diagnosing and treating heart disease, according to the Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based vendor. Short-track speedskaters from the U.S., Italy, and China are participating in the study.
