Sonora Medical Systems has introduced the Nickel, a diagnostic ultrasound transducer testing device.
The handheld device allows physicians, sonographers, and biomedical engineers to test the operation of both an ultrasound probe as well as an ultrasound system immediately prior to performing an ultrasound examination on a patient, according to the Longmont, CO-based firm.
The Nickel inputs a test signal into the probe that is passed to the ultrasound system for display on the system’s monitor, Sonora said. That signal also confirms that the scanner’s system electronics are functional.
