Suros Surgical Systems, an Indianapolis-based subsidiary of women's imaging vendor Hologic, has launched Suros Celero, a spring-loaded, vacuum-assisted core biopsy device for breast ultrasound.
Suros Celero is designed to access hard-to-reach lesions in the axilla, near the chest wall, near implants, or behind the nipple, and can fire inside or outside the breast, the company said. The device features an echogenic needle that reduces deflection and offers a visible aperture location for target verification under ultrasound imaging prior to tissue acquisition, according to the developer.
Suros Celero has been cleared for use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is available now.
