Ultrasound developer Aloka of Wallingford, CT, has selected computer components from Xilinx of San Jose, CA, for use in the company's Prosound alpha 10 high-end ultrasound scanner.
Xilinx's Virtex-4 SX EasyPath FPGAs (field-programmable gate arrays) will be used in the manufacture of ProSound alpha 10 systems. The Virtex-4 SX devices are used primarily to transmit/receive focused ultrasound data.
