Italian medical device firm Esaote of Genoa has signed a technology sharing and financial partnership agreement with ultrasound imaging developer TechniScan Medical Systems (TMS) of Salt Lake City.

In addition to sharing technologies and intellectual property, the two companies plan to collaborate in developing the TechniScan's UltraSound CT product and cooperate in marketing efforts.

Esaote will also invest up to $9 million in TMS equity, as it executes an original equipment manufacturing (OEM) agreement to permit TMS to incorporate Esaote products and technologies and Esaote to develop future ultrasound systems with TMS technology.

Finally, the companies plan to establish an exclusive distribution agreement for the European market, with commercial cooperation in the American market.
