GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., has launched a new ultrasound device designed for needle guidance procedures and diagnostic tests at the patient bedside.
Venue 40 comes in five versions: vascular access to assist in the placement of peripheral or central lines; anesthesia, to help with regional nerve blocks; interventional, to allow for biopsy guidance, line placements, and rapid diagnostics at the bedside; musculoskeletal, to diagnose and treat muscle, tendon, and joint problems or rheumatoid arthritis; and point of care, for diagnosis and cardiac assessment in the intensive care unit, the cardiac care unit, the trauma bay, or at the patient's bedside.
The device includes a touchscreen and stylus and is mounted on a small cart. It also features GE's dual beamformer to process data points for anatomical images, CrossXBeam and Speckle Reduction Imaging technologies, and a color 10.4-inch display, GE said.
