CIVCO launches needle guidance system

Ultrasound and radiotherapy products developer CIVCO Medical Solutions has debuted a new needle guidance system.

eTrax gives physicians a more dynamic and accurate tool for tracking the tip of a needle under real-time image-guided navigation, according to CIVCO. It is a two-part coaxial system that consists of a reusable, nonsterile 0.9-mm sensor and a sterile, disposable needle with a trocar sheath.

When fully assembled, the sensor is positioned in the enclosed tip of the needle. eTrax features an electromagnetic sensor embedded into the needle tip, the Kalona, IA-based firm said.
