U-Systems raises $10M for trial

Ultrasound developer U-Systems of Sunnyvale, CA, has raised $10 million in funding that will be used toward its somo-InSIGHT clinical study to evaluate ultrasound breast screening in women with dense breasts.

iD SoftCapital Group led the funding round, with other U-Systems investors including Sycamore Ventures, Lumira Capital, Radius Ventures, and PIIH.

The trial is design to address whether U-Systems' somo.v automated breast ultrasound system, in combination with digital mammography, is more sensitive for detecting breast lesions when compared to mammography alone in women with dense breasts, according to the firm.
